A Buddy does not need the Android app. Send the private invitation through text, email, Messenger or any other private channel; the link opens in a normal browser. Live media is peer-to-peer when possible and falls back to TURN when needed. Camera/audio sharing is always explicit and stops when you leave the app or lock the screen. Native safety sensors continue.

Buddy call off

Camera off · not sharing

During a Walk Me Home Buddy call, one WebRTC microphone stream is shared with the local safety classifiers so Buddy audio does not disable safety listening. An ordinary cellular or other-app call still receives Android microphone priority; Walk Me Home pauses audio monitoring during that call while motion, location and other sensors continue, then reacquires the microphone automatically.

Help or an unanswered check-in emails your designated Buddy. Observation and an okay response stay quiet.

No help requested

Reports can include private audio, location and transcripts. Choose who receives them.

Microphone access pauses during phone calls, dictation or another app's recording. Monitoring resumes when capture becomes available. Watch for the microphone status to recover.

Optional posture estimates use your private camera preview. They require a visible person and do not guarantee fall detection.

Off

Audio, motion, locations and check-in records stay on this device unless shared through a requested feature. Help delivery uses your selected contacts.

While signed in, the app sends a minimal activity heartbeat with a random session identifier and platform. It includes no audio, location, messages or sensor readings. Activity records expire after 30 days. Offline activity is reported when reconnected, never counted as currently online until a new heartbeat arrives.

Walk Me Home cannot call emergency services automatically. Detection and delivery depend on the device and connection.
